2017/04/14

Up:

Jason Heyward, OF: Apr 12 – Jason Heyward appears to have moved up to the #2 spot in the Cubs’ OF, as he’s started in 7 of the team’s 8 games. He’s started in RF for 4 of them and CF for 3 of them.

John Jay, OF: April 12 – John Jay may have moved passed Albert Almora in the Cubs’ OF depth. He’s started 3 games in CF to Almora’s 2.

Pedro Strop, RP: April 12 – In the three-way competition for Cubs’ Setup man, Pedro Strop seems to be edging ahead. He has 4 Holds to 1 each for Koji Uehara and Hector Rondon.

Down:

Albert Almora, OF: Apr 12 – Albert Almora has only started 2 games for the Cubs in CF and appears to have fallen to #4 in the team’s depth chart behind Kyle Schwarber, Jason Heyward and John Jay. Ben Zobrist has also started 4 games in RF in addition to 3 games at 2B.

Javier Baez, 2B/SS: April 12 – Javier Baez has only started 5 of the Cubs’ 8 games at 2B and may be working into a platoon with Ben Zobrist (who then moves to RF when Baez is in the lineup).

Koji Uehara, RP: April 12 – It appears that Koji Uehara is slipping behind Pedro Strop in the competition for Setup man for the Cubs. He and Hector Rondon have only 1 Hold each, compared to Strop’s 4.

Hector Rondon, RP: April 12 – It appears that Hector Rondon is trailing Pedro Strop in the competition for Setup man for the Cubs. He and Koji Uehara were thought to be the main participants in that contest but they have only 1 Hold each, compared to Strop’s 4.
